Tecnam successfully delivered Tecnam P2012 STOL aircraft to Guyana Defence Force. This marks a significant milestone in Tecnam's ongoing efforts to support military and civilian operations in challenging environments worldwide. The aircraft, registration 8R-MAB, was acquired following a signed acceptance agreement in May. Operated by the GDF Air Corps, it is set to enhance the country’s connectivity and operational capabilities across remote jungle regions. P2012 STOL design will facilitate cargo transport, medical evacuation, surveillance, and rapid deployment, all crucial tasks in Guyana’s dense rainforest landscape.
Guyana's President Mohamed Irfaan Ali was present at the reception ceremony and explained that the Tecnam P2012 aircraft, although not an attack model, will be used to resupply remote outposts, evacuate people and respond to emergencies. He highlighted its performance, versatility and ability to operate in jungle areas within the country. According to the Chief of the Defence Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan, it will also be used for rapid deployment, surveillance, search and rescue, as well as to combat transnational criminal organizations linked to drug and arms trafficking.
