The Guernsey-based 2-REG Aircraft Registry (2-REG), which accommodates all aircraft types from larger airliners through to general aviation, announced today that the States of Guernsey adopted a policy to approve 2-REG to issue Air Operator Certificates (AOCs). This new legislation to accommodate the AOC operations is now being drafted and is expected to pass for final government approval on March 9, 2016. Government deputies unanimously voted in support of the policy.
Beginning in March 2016, business aircraft operators and commercial airlines will be able to take advantage of the unique opportunities that 2-REG offers and conduct revenue flights once holding a 2-REG AOC.
Guernsey’s Commerce and Employment Minister Deputy Kevin Stewart commented that “customers are ready to sign up.”
“Our business-to-business approach has won over major lessors and this is the logical next step in the development of our portfolio. We will bring to market an innovative and focused AOC that sets high safety and operational standards and is built upon our unique commercial philosophy,” added Gus Paterson, Guernsey’s Director of Civil Aviation.
Jasper van den Boogaard on behalf of 2-REG stated that, “AOC operations are an exciting addition and the 2-REG team is driven to provide a high quality and quick service to our rapidly expanding customer base.”
2-REG is shortlisted for the 2015 Guernsey BWCI Innovation Award (www.awards.gg).
