The Dominican airline, Air Century, has presented its expansion plans to industry representatives with the objective of offering more alternatives for travelers.

Arantxa Chahin, the airline’s marketing coordinator, said the expansion is part of a structured business plan that the airline has followed since it began operating regular flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2016.

"We have acquired two modern Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft with 50 seats capacity each and the latest cutting-edge technology. They will enhance our service to San Juan and we will commence weekly flights with these two aircraft on this route. Our intention is to provide daily flights from our Caribbean hub at La Isabela-Dr. Joaquín Balaguer International Airport to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, " said Chahin.

The two new aircraft will complement and enhance the current schedule on this route. Currently, Air Century offers five flights a week to Puerto Rico, departing at 11:00 a.m. from the Dr. Joaquín Balaguer airport in Santo Domingo and, for the return journey, departing at 2.00 p.m. from San Juan, using Saab 340B aircraft with 34 seats capacity.

In addition, the CEO of Air Century, Captain Pilot Omar Chahin, announced that Air Century has received authorization to start operations, from its Caribbean hub in Santo Domingo, to new destinations in the Caribbean, i.e. to Curaçao, Aruba and St. Marteen.
