London-to-Bratislava flight is forced to land in Germany to expel passengers for their aggressive behaviour.

A pilot was forced to land his plane in Berlin when members of a British stag party reportedly became aggreesive after they were refused more alcohol.

The latest disruption comes amid a sharp rise in alcohol-fuelled incidents in the air, prompting some airlines to launch a crackdown on such unruly behaviour.

The Ryanair flight from London to Bratislava in Slovakia was forced to land in the German capital to eject the bachelor party, according to newspaper reports in Germany.

Six members of the group were said to have become unruly during the flight, forcing the pilot to make an unscheduled stop in Berlin and remove the passengers concerned from the flight.

The men became aggressive when they were refused alcohol, German newspaper Bild reported.

Local police said the drunken Britons, aged 25 to 28 and from Southampton, were met by officers upon landing at Schoenefeld airport. They now each face fines of up to €25,000 (£19,700) and civil claims from the airline.

The incident is the latest example in recent months of flights being disrupted by drunken behaviour.

Limits may be placed on how much alcohol can be given to passengers during flights.

In November a drunk female passenger on a Boston-bound British Airways flight from London had to be restrained after trying to open the exit door.

Last week, Dolores O'Riordan, the Cranberries singer, was fined €6,000(£4,690) for head-butting and spitting on a police officer following an alleged air rage incident in November.

There has been a sharp rise in unruly and disorderly behaviour on-board aircraft, often linked to excessive alcohol consumption, over the past two years.

In a bid to combat what has become a "serious problem", Jet2 said last summer that it was leading a crackdown on unruly behaviour. The alliance of concerned bodies has put in place a series of comprehensive measures to tackle disruptive conduct.

In September it was reported that ministers were considering new regulations, such as blocking passengers who drink too much in the airport from boarding the plane.

Tighter limits could also be imposed on how many drinks are handed out during the flight, and drunk British passengers risk being placed on a blacklist that bars them from flying with other domestic carriers, according to The Times.
