A Chengdu Airlines (EU) flight en route from Chengdu to Taiyuan returned to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) Friday night after a passenger suffered a heart attack, local media reported.

Flight EU2713 took off from Chengdu airport at 8:08 p.m. and returned to the airport at 8:54 p.m.

A male passenger suffered a heart attack about 10 minutes after takeoff. The captain decided to return the aircraft to Chengdu airport immediately.

The passenger received medical treatment after landing and turned better. He was then sent to hospital for further examination.

The flight took off again at 9:59 p.m. and arrived in Taiyuan at 11:36 p.m., with a delay of one and a half hours, according to VeryZhun, China's leading flight status service provider.
