Latvian airline airBaltic today joined more than 20 airlines to sign an International Air Transport Association (IATA) 25by2025 gender diversity pledge, committing to increase female participation at senior levels by 25% by the year 2025. The pledge was signed at the IATA Wings of Change conference on November 19.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “We have been fully committed to achieve gender equality and promote well-paid professions among women. Now we join various other industry leaders in a joint pledge to further increase female participation at the company. As an innovative airline, airBaltic has been driving progress in various fields in Latvia and globally.”

Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s Director General and CEO: “We welcome airBaltic airline’s commitment to the 25by2025campaign. We need a skilled, diverse and gender balanced workforce to meet the growing needs of our customers. Aviation is the business of freedom. And 25by2025 will help this important global industry be an even better employment opportunity for all people looking to make their career by linking the world.”

Since 2013, airBaltic has maintained full gender equality in the number of employees within the company. Currently more than 40% of airBaltic’s top management representatives are female. The airline has also maintained a 50% proportion among all managers.

Earlier this year IATA announced that Latvian airline airBaltic was shortlisted for its Diversity & Inclusion Team Award, designed to recognize airline that has seen a tangible change in their diversity as a result of the work that has been done in diversity and inclusion.

airBaltic serves over 70 destinations from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, offering the largest variety of destinations and convenient connections via Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS and the Middle East
