A Loganair Saab 340B on behalf of British Airways, registration G-LGNJ performing flight LC-843 from Rotterdam (Netherlands) to Aberdeen,SC (UK) with 18 people on board, was climbing out of Rotterdam's runway 06 when the crew stopped the climb at 2500 feet reporting a hydraulic failure. The aircraft entered a hold while the crew worked the checklists. The crew declared emergency reporting they would not have nose wheel steering following landing. The aircraft landed on Rotterdam's runway 06 about one hour after departure and slowed safely coming to a stop on the runway. Subsequently the crew reported a problem with the brakes pressure, the aircraft began to move slowly, the aircraft veered off the runway and came to a stop with all gear on soft ground. There were no injuries.

The airport is estimated to remain closed until 10:00 p.m. (about 5.5 hours).

The Dutch Safety Board reported they are investigating an occurrence with a small airliner at Rotterdam with a hydraulic failure affecting nose wheel steering.
