Liebherr-Aerospace and Loong Air launched a long-term collaboration, with Liebherr-Aerospace providing major repair and re-coring services for the heat transfer equipment on Loong Air’s A320ceo/neo fleet. The re-coring, which includes full matrix replacement will be carried out at Liebherr’s site in Shanghai, Pudong (China), the dedicated service center for Chinese customers.

Eric Thévenot, General Manager, Customer Services & MRO, Liebherr China commented: “This contract with Loong Air is a premiere for our re-core activities in China and paves the way for a promising future. Together with our skilled service team in Shanghai, we are strengthening regional support and delivering Liebherr-Aerospace quality with a REACH-compliant coating process, preparing airline customers for future environmental requirements.”

As part of this cooperation, Loong Air will manage cleaning, minor repairs, and test procedures – ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability for heat transfer equipment. As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Liebherr will support Loong Air with technical expertise, access to technical publications, training, and spare parts to facilitate the airline’s maintenance work.

Expansion of MRO capacities of aircraft heat transfer equipment

Liebherr has recently expanded its maintenance, repair and overhaul capacities at its site in Shanghai, supporting the growing demand for advanced maintenance solutions in the region. Hosted within a 20,000 m2 regional headquarter, the range of certified MRO activities includes testing and re-coring of heat transfer equipment for aircraft.

With the introduction of REACH-compliant TCS (Trivalent Chromium System) and PACS (Post Application Conversion Sealer) advanced protection coating of heat transfer equipment components, Liebherr is the first company to offer this service to airline customers in China. The achievement underlines the company’s role as a trusted, future-oriented partner in the Asian aerospace ecosystem.

With the investment in local capabilities and more sustainable technologies, Liebherr-Aerospace continues to deliver OEM-quality services and to strengthen its role as a trusted partner for China’s aviation industry.
