Iberia has confirmed an order for two long-haul Airbus A330-200s, to be delivered in 2017-2018.
The twin-engine A330/200s modern and highly fuel-efficient and will reduce CO2 emissions. They have a range of up to 11,500 kilometres.
The new aircraft will raise to 29 the number of long-haul aircraft ordered by Iberia since August 2014, of which deliveries will begin next month. Thirteen new Airbus A330-200s are to join the Iberia fleet between December, 2015 and March, 2018, while 16 late-model Airbus A350-900s will be delivered between 2018 and 2021.
All the new aircraft will come factory-equipped with Iberia’s newly designed business and economy cabins. The business section features seats that turn into two-metre-long flat beds, all with direct access to the aisle, and 15” touch screens loaded with entertainment and communications options. Economy passengers get more room and wider seats, along with individual touch screens, plus Wi-Fi access and GSM connectivity.
The US Skift travel platform listed Iberia’s business class section as the best on Europe-Latin America routes, citing spaciousness, facilities for working, generous personal storage capacity, and gourmet meal service. Surveys of economy class passengers show a high level of appreciation of the additional comfort as well as the lavish entertainment offering, and connectivity.
