Norwegian has received an operational authorization from the Transport Agency for its Swedish AOC (Air Operators Certificate). The Swedish company Norwegian Air Sweden (NSE) will give Norwegian a stronger foothold in Europe.
This morning landed Norwegian's first Swedish registered aircraft at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The plane that flew to Arlanda directly from the Boeing factory in Seattle is a brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 with registration SE-RTA.
"We are delighted to have a Swedish AOC in place. With a stronger foothold in Scandinavia, we can access additional traffic rights and introduce new routes not previously trafficked. Arlanda has the potential to become a major international transport hub for flights between Asia and North America, but it requires a more air-friendly policies and equal competition", says Norwegian's CEO Bjørn Kjos.
Norwegian will soon apply for traffic rights, which includes application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to fly to the US on Norwegian Air Sweden.
It was in 2017 that Norwegian began the process with a Swedish operating conditions of the Transport Agency.
