One of Russia’s largest air carriers, S7 Airlines (Siberia Airlines brand) is expected to submit an application to operate in Cyprus by next month.

According to InBusinessNews, the Russian tour operator, Biblio Globus, has proceeded with a collaboration with S7 Airlines, to transport tourists from Russia to Cyprus.

It should be noted that Biblio Globus plays a big part in Cypriot tourism in relation to the tourists transferred from Russia. The company has a market share of 70% in the field of passenger traffic from Russia which translates into over 350,000 people.

Transport Minister Marios Demetriades said there are also two more applications before authorities – Cobalt Air and Fly Orion – and a ‘very serious company’ which is also expected to soon apply.

S7 Airlines has a wide domestic route network, created on the basis of air transport hubs in Moscow (Domodedovo) and Novosibirsk (Tolmachevo). S7 Airlines also performs regular flights to countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Europe, the Near East, Southeast Asia and countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
