The operating results for November 2015 are given in the table below.
In November 2015, Singapore Airlines’ systemwide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometres) improved 2.0% compared to last year, against a 1.9% reduction in capacity (measured in available seat kilometres). Consequently, passenger load factor (PLF) improved 3.1 percentage points to 78.8%.
PLF improved for all regions, supported by selective adjustments to capacity and promotional activities in relevant markets.
SilkAir’s systemwide passenger carriage grew 9.8% year-on-year, compared to a 9.3% increase in capacity. Consequently, PLF increased by 0.4 percentage points to 71.3%. Growth in passenger carriage exceeded capacity growth for the East Asia and Pacific Region, resulting in a 0.5 percentage point improvement in PLF. For the West Asia region, strong growth in passenger carriage did not keep pace with strong capacity growth, resulting in a 0.9 percentage point decrease in PLF.
Scoot launched flights to its fourth point in Australia, Melbourne, in November 2015. Together with the introduction of services to Osaka and Kaohsiung in July 2015 and Hangzhou in October 2015, Scoot’s network has expanded to 16 points. Consequently, Scoot’s capacity increased by 42.4% as its operating fleet increased from six aircraft (777s) last year to ten aircraft (nine 787s and one 777) in November 2015. Systemwide passenger carriage grew 47.2% year-on-year. As a result, PLF increased 2.7 percentage points to 83.6%.
In November 2015, Tigerair’s systemwide passenger carriage grew 0.3% as compared to a 2.8% reduction in capacity. Consequently, PLF increased by 2.6 percentage points to 83.1%.
Overall cargo load factor (CLF) was 1.2 percentage points lower despite 5.4% growth in cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres), as the improvement in traffic did not keep pace with capacity expansion of 7.4%. Load factor improved for South West Pacific but declined for all other regions.
