Demand from Austria for exotic holiday destinations continues to grow
Austrian Airlines now offers flights to three destinations in the Indian Ocean: Mauritius, Maldives and Sri Lanka
Starting today, Austrian Airlines has added a new long-haul destination in the Indian Ocean to its route network. Every Thursday the airline will operate a Boeing 767 aircraft flying non-stop from Vienna to Mauritius. The return flight will take place on Fridays. Due to the extensive demand, Austrian Airlines will also offer a second flight per week to Mauritius in the period December 19, 2015 to February 27, 2016.
Demand on the part of Austrian travelers for exotic holiday destinations continues to grow. In particular, the Austrians favor destinations in the Indian Ocean. Austria’s national carrier has, thus reacted to this trend by already including two new destinations in the region in its current winter flight schedule, namely Colombo and Mauritius. Accordingly, Austrian Airlines has increased its seating capacity to destinations in the Indian Ocean by 119 percent compared to the winter flight schedule 2014/15. Fights to the Maldives remain very popular, with Austria’s flagship carrier offering up to two weekly flight connections. Austrian Airlines will offer up to five weekly flights to three destinations in the Indian Ocean in the current winter flight schedule.
The flight time to the island of Mauritius is 10 hours 40 minutes. Round-trip tickets are available starting at EUR 899, including taxes and charges. Tickets can be booked online at www.austrian.com, by telephone at +43 (0) 5 1766 1000 or at a travel agency.
