In order to provide passengers and employees of the companies working at the Airport with additional opportunities to take Covid-19 test conveniently, E.Gulbis Laboratory contactless Covid-19 testing point was opened at Riga Airport. At the mobile testing point of E.Gulbis Laboratory, which is located at the exit of arrivals hall E, Covid-19 test can be taken by travellers, Airport guests and employees of the Airport and companies working at the Airport who have access to Latvian-recognized authentication tools such as Swedbank, SEB, Luminor or Citadele Bank internet bank, e-parakstsID or e-paraksts mobile or Smart-ID. Foreign nationals who do not have access to these authentication applications cannot use the service at this point, but the Airport is working with E.Gulbis Laboratory to find a solution for providing such an opportunity.
Taking test at the contactless point is a paid service. In order to take the test, customers should authorize on the website of E.Gulbis Laboratory https://ej.uz/analizes, using one of the above-mentioned authentication options. By logging in, customers confirm their identity and pay for the test. As soon as this is done, customers receive a PIN code by phone and e-mail and can follow the instructions on the machine to deliver a sample of saliva.
The Airport reminds departing passengers to take into account the fact that it is not possible to receive the test result immediately before the flight - E.Gulbis Laboratory will send the test result by e-mail. Therefore the time of taking the test should be planned in a timely manner.
According to the information on the website of E.Gulbis Laboratory, the saliva test in Latvia is recognized as an official test for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus RNA. The guidelines of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control also stipulate that saliva samples may be used to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus RNA in humans. More information about the contactless testing point is available on the website of E.Gulbis Laboratory: https://www.egl.lv/noderiga-informacija/automatizeta-analizu-nodosanas-iekarta
At the same time, the temporary Covid-19 testing point of the MFD Laboratory is still available at the Airport, where all travellers arriving to Latvia from Great Britain can take the test free of charge.
Considering that travellers from more and more countries are required to present the result of Covid-19 test, the Airport in cooperation with E.Gulbis Laboratory is working on the establishment of a permanent Covid-19 test point, which will be located in the arrivals hall of the passenger terminal.
The Airport reminds that a negative test result does not cancel the obligation to observe 10 days of self-isolation and other restrictions set in Latvia to control the spread of Covid-19 infection.
From January 7 2021, the government Of Latvia adopted stricter regulations for all people entering the country to facilitate more epidemiologically safe movement and reduce the introduction of COVID-19 infection into the country. When entering Latvia both with passenger transport and a personal vehicle, one must present confirmation of a negative COVID-19 test result. The regulations will take effect on January 15, simultaneously with the introduction of similar rules in Lithuania and Estonia. The additional security measures aim at preventing the introduction of a viral infection and encouraging the population to travel only for significant reasons, family circumstances, or work.
