A cargo plane registered in Georgia, which brought aid materials to Turkey's southeastern Van province after the earthquake in 2011, has been kept waiting at the airport to be repaired since then.

The Georgian Ilyushin Il-76TD model cargo plane from SKY Georgia Airlines landed at the Erzurum airport on October 23, 2011.

The airport in the eastern province of Erzurum was chosen as the hub to transfer international aid materials to Van, the province hit by the earthquake.

The aid materials reached the destination, but the Georgian cargo plane could not take off as its cockpit collided with a plane's wing from Kyrgyzstan.

The Georgian cargo plane was parked at the airport to be repaired, but has since then been kept waiting as it could not be repaired due to problems with the assurance company of the plane.

The airport did not charge a parking fee to the Georgian plane because it came to bring aid.

If the airport had charged the airline for the duration that plane was parked at the airport, the cost would be daily 2.5 euros per ton of the plane's weight.

The weight of the Il-76TD cargo plane is approximately 170 tons, which means that the company would normally have to pay 425 euros per day.

If the company had to pay for the plane's stay between its landing and December 12, 2015, the price would total in at 638,350 euros ($702,743) for four years and 42 days' worth parking fee.

How long the cargo plane will continue to remain parked at the Turkish airport is still a mystery.
