Tonnage figures at Helsinki Airport fell by a substantial 13.8 per cent in 2015, coming in at 167,980 tonnes down from 194,932 tonnes in 2014.
The Finnish airport’s international volumes were the main reason, down 13.5 per cent and totaling 154,869 tonnes, compared to 179,028 tonnes the year before.
Domestic cargo also suffered in 2015 and there was 20.2 per cent fall in volumes to 3,926 tonnes last year, which was down from the 4,918 tonnes in 2014.
December continued the monthly falls and there was a significant 27.7 per cent decline which was the worst performing month in 2015 compared to 2014.
Other poor performing months at Helsinki Airport in 2015 were May when there was 24 per cent fall and September when there was 19.3 per cent drop.
