Azerbaijan continues to actively implement regional airports modernization program. In the nearest future new passenger terminal of the Nakhichevan International Airport will be opened.

Nakhchivan International Airport ( Naxçıvan Beynəlxalq Hava Limanı) (IATA: NAJ, ICAO: UBBN) is an airport and located in Nakchivan, the capital of the Nakchivan Autonomous Republic, a landlocked exclave of Azerbaijan. The airport was built in the 1970s.

After the reconstruction terminal capacity will significantly increase - from current 300 to 500 passengers per hour.
The administration of the airport paid special attention to passenger comfort level, both arriving and departing. So now passengers will be able to enjoy the high level of comfort in stylish lounges. Airport now will use 2 telescopic ladders. Before the flight, the passenger have the opportunity to spend time in the numerous cafes and restaurants with a unique view on Daşduz and purchase goods in duty free stores.

What about business passengers? A separate VIP terminal with all needed. Passengers are driven to the aircraft with a minibus.
All border and custom formalities takes just a few minutes.As 50skyshades were told by the airport top management, there are not slots at the airport and it operates 24/7. The administration hopes for some growth and business aviation too.
Regarding airfield infrastructure, it has one of the modern runways in the country 3200 meters long, certified as I CAT ICAO.
Simultaneously 10 of Airbus A320 type aircraft can be handled on the appron.


Main carrier at the airport is the national air carrier AZAL, Azerbaijan Airlines. It is planned in the future to attract other charter operators.
Most popular destinations for today are - Baku and Moscow, as well as Turkish and Iranian destinations.

As emphasized at the airport, now locals are main part of the traffic, but with the development of business relations and tourism,  foreign passengers traffic increase is expected.
