Norwegian launched its first flight from Chicago to Barcelona on June 7. The new Barcelona service operates four times per week, with fares starting at $169.90 in Economy and $669.90 in Premium one way, including taxes. This summer seasonal route ends on October 26, 2019 and is operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Norwegian now offers two nonstop routes from Chicago O’Hare International Airport to London Gatwick Airport and Barcelona-El Prat Airport. Service to London launched in March 2018, operating four times weekly year-round.
Additionally, Norwegian has increased the frequencies of its successful Barcelona route to daily service from Newark Liberty International Airport, while service has increased to six flights weekly from Los Angeles. In total, Norwegian now offers five nonstop routes to Barcelona from the United States: Chicago; Fort Lauderdale; New York City/Newark; Los Angeles; and Oakland.
“Barcelona continues to be a top European destination for American travelers, and we see continued growth in tourism in the forthcoming years. Our competitive fares, direct flights, and new planes, makes this an even more attractive vacation spot during the summer season,” said Matthew Wood, Senior Vice President of Commercial Long Haul and New Markets for Norwegian.
Norwegian’s U.S. network will continue to expand this summer with its highly anticipated New York to Athens route set to take flight on July 2, operating four times a week until October 26. Norwegian also inaugurated flights from Boston to both Madrid and Rome this past spring. All routes are summer seasonal, ending late October 2019.
This summer, Norwegian will offer 13 nonstop European destinations from the New York City area. Since February 2019, Norwegian is the largest foreign airline to serve the New York City area, based on passenger numbers, according to data from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Norwegian operates one of the youngest and therefore greenest fleets in the industry, and has been named the Most Fuel-Efficient Airline on Transatlantic Routes by the International Council on Clean Transportation twice.
All flights are available on Norwegian.com/us, and to find the most affordable fares, go to the low fare calendar. Passengers on all of Norwegian’s flights are eligible to join Norwegian Reward, the airline’s award-winning loyalty program, to earn CashPoints every time they fly, book a hotel or rent a car. This year, Norwegian Reward was named Program of the Year Europe and Africa for the third consecutive year.
