Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) officially began offering its around-the-clock customs clearance service on Wednesday, according to the Transport Commission of Shenzhen Municipality.
The 24/7 customs clearance will enable the airport to accommodate more international routes and increase the frequency of existing routes by making full use of night hours, said the airport.
The Transport Commission said that the airport's clearance time was extended from 8:00 a.m.-00:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m. the next day in October 2014, from 16 hours to 19 hours a day.
As the 24/7 customs clearance takes effective, the airport is expected to serve an extra 1.55 million international passengers annually through opening more intercontinental flights and increasing the frequencies of the existing international flights.
Shenzhen has become the 11th Chinese city offering the around-the-clock customs clearance service, following Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, Chongqing, Xiamen, Dalian, Xi'an and Wuhan.
