The 75th Bombardier Learjet 75 was delivered yeaterday to Canadian business jet charter, management, sales and fractional provider Aurora Jet Partners during a ceremony at the manufacturer’s plant in Wichita, where the light jets are assembled. This milestone comes some two years after the model—a longer-range version of the Learjet 45 with Garmin G5000 integrated avionics, redesigned winglets and more efficient Honeywell TFE731-40BRengines—received FAA certification.
The twinjet, registered as C-GAJG, is the first Learjet to enter service with Aurora Jet Partners and an initial step in the company’s plan to renew its older light and midsize fractional jet fleet. Aurora’s fractional and managed fleet also includes the super-midsize Bombardier Challenger 300, large-cabin Challenger 604 and 605 and ultra-long-range Global 5000.
Aurora Jet Partners president Bill McGoey suggested that more Learjet 75s will soon be coming to his ramp. “We intend to expand the managed and fractional ownership side of our business by adding a modern fleet of Learjet 75s, which offer value and utility to our customers,” he said. “We hope to have additional Learjet 75s in service by year-end if 2016 goes as planned.”
The Learjet 75’s enhanced performance comes from the higher-thrust Honeywell engines, which deliver up to a 9-percent improvement in hot-and-high takeoff field performance as well as a 4-percent increase in fuel efficiency, compared to the Learjet 45. In addition, its Vision flight deck, complete with touchscreen controls, reduces weight, and canted winglets improve aerodynamic efficiency. With these enhancements, the Learjet 75 can fly more than 2,000 nm at cruise speeds of up to Mach 0.81.
