Jetstar’s newest route to Vietnam has taken off in a big way with its inaugural flight to Da Nang departing at full capacity this evening as travellers from Singapore – and beyond – benefitted from first time low fares to one of Asia’s newest exotic destinations this year-end holidays.

Jetstar Asia is the first LCC to connect Da Nang and Singapore, offering three return services a week.

Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi, who was on the inaugural flight 3K541 that departed this evening from Singapore to Da Nang, said that the service will be a favourite with customers from Singapore and beyond.

“This is an exciting day as our customers – both from Singapore and abroad – will for the first time be able to enjoy low fares to this popular destination” said Mr Pasupathi.
“Da Nang is just under three hours from Singapore and is the perfect getaway for the busy executive looking for the relaxing weekend golfing or beach combing.

“Families, business travellers and transit passengers alike will enjoy its pristine beaches, temples and world-famous heritage cities such as Hoi An and Hue,” said Mr Pasupathi.
“With this service, Da Nang will also be more accessible to Southeast Asian and Australian travellers through Changi Airport,” Mr Pasupathi added.

Da Nang is a popular tourist destination well-known for its coastal beauty, golf courses and landmarks that reflect the influences of the traditional Champa kingdom as well as Japanese, Chinese and French cultures over the centuries.

These new services will boost the strong presence Jetstar has in Vietnam with leading low cost carrier, Jetstar Pacific, which currently connects to 16 domestic destinations in Vietnam and six international destinations.

Da Nang is the second port in Vietnam that Jetstar Asia will be flying to after Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr Tran Chi Cuong, Deputy Director of Danang Department of Culture, Sports welcomes the inaugural arrival in Da Nang.

“LCCs have been operating in ASEAN for many years and we recognise the positive transformation that Jetstar and other low-fares carriers have made on tourism and the economy.
“Tourism to Da Nang has been on the rise and we expect to welcome close to 4.6 million visitors by the end of 2015.

“With the largest group of travellers to Vietnam coming from Southeast Asia and Asia we are pleased to hear that our local and national tourist organisations are working hand in hand to promote travel between the two countries,” said Mr Tran.

The direct service departs Singapore on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, operating with the Jetstar Asia’s 180-seat Airbus A320.

Jetstar Asia’s network continues to deepen within the region with inaugural flights to the Indonesian cities of Palembang on 3 December and Pekanbaru on 10 December.
