Air charter operator and aviation service provider SaxonAir has continued its expansion by doubling their helicopter charter fleet with the addition of two new AW109SP Grand New helicopters. Both helicopters are operated through new managed aircraft contracts and will be based in the London Area to serve SaxonAir’s increasing client demand.
SaxonAir’s helicopter business now operates a total of four modern helicopters providing clients with a faster, more direct travel solution, which complements the existing mixed private jet fleet. Three of these are Leonardo Helicopters’ latest multi-engine A109SP Grand New variant and benefit from the best avionics and onboard systems, providing enhanced levels of safety and reliability.
Max Randall, SaxonAir Helicopters Operations and Charter Manager says ‘It’s not often charter companies are able to offer a modern fleet like ours. Our clients enjoy flying in newer generation aircraft and the ‘Grand New’ is one of the most popular helicopters to charter so it works perfectly for us.’
The luxurious cabin of the A109SP can comfortably accommodate 6/7 passengers. Finished in the finest interior trims and benefiting from excellent soundproofing, passengers enjoy an extremely quiet and comfortable flight. Wide sliding doors on both sides and an electrically retractable step afford easy access, whilst the extended baggage compartment provides high capacity for client’s personal luggage.
SaxonAir have seen a dramatic increase in requests for their helicopter charter service since the introduction of their first Leonardo A109SP Grand New in late 2016. Max Randall adds ‘The A109 is one of the fastest helicopters on the market and has excellent performance, meaning load capacity even over longer-range flights is excellent. A popular route for us is from Battersea central London to Issy le Moulineaux Heliport in central Paris. The flight time from the centre of these popular city pairs is only 1hour 15minutes, showing the savings in travel time that are only possible by helicopter’.
