AsBAA, the Asian region’s non-profit representative association for business aviation held a Safety Day in which it hosted the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and industry experts to speak on topics affecting safety in the business and general aviation industry in Asia (BA/GA).

The Safety Day was held on day one of Singapore Business Aviation Week 2018, a growing programme of GA/BA focussed events and activities that also includes: AsBAA Discovery school visits, AsBAA Annual General Meeting, a site visit to Senai International Airport and the Corporate Jet Investor Conference Asia. The Safety Day welcomed speakers from Surbana Jurong International Consultants, AON Risk Solutions, Flight Data Services, Remote Diagnostic Technologies, Sands Aviation, ExecuJet, Universal Aviation Singapore, Bombardier Business Aircraft, Registry of Aruba, Jet Aviation and the leaders of AsBAA.

Mr. Gary Moran, Vice-Chairman of AsBAA and Chair of the Southeast Asia Committee said, “AsBAA coordinates the Safety Day to promote a culture of safety excellence in the BA/GA industry. We act as a platform through which our members can share their expertise in pressing matters such as: SMS, Airworthiness, Human Factors, Risk and Insurance, Working at Height and others. We thank our sponsor, Bombardier Business Aircraft for sponsoring the AsBAA Safety Day in Singapore, which enables us to offer this event to the community without charge. The involvement of CAAS also brings great value to the event. We are delighted with the attendance today and with the success of the event, which has been a great way to kick off Singapore Business Aviation Week 2018”.

Leo Knaapen, Chief Industry Affairs, Bombardier Business Aircraft said, "Safety is the overriding top priority that binds civil aviation globally, the common core which unifies all sectors, and continuing to raise the bar on safety is fundamentally critical to the general / business aviation segment," observed Leo Knaapen, Chief of Industry Affairs, Bombardier Business Aircraft.   "Industry initiatives such as AsBAA's annual Safety Day are excellent platforms for aircraft operators to learn about current and emerging safety issues while at the same time permitting pilots, technicians and safety experts to proactively share their safety practices."

The Safety Day is organised by AsBAA and exclusively sponsored by Bombardier Business Aircraft to promote best practice in the BA/GA industry in Asia. The involvement of CAAS signifies a new, closer cooperation between the authorities and AsBAA in relation to planning for BA/GA infrastructure.
