The Isle of Man Aircraft Registry (IOMAR), a longstanding client of Baines Simmons, has been named Best Global Aviation Registry in World Commerce Review Magazine’s 2017 awards. IOMAR is the 6th largest international business jet register in the world. It is known for award-winning levels of customer service and the highest standards of independent regulatory oversight.

The World Commerce Review award panel considered product innovation, on-going customer support, and best practice criteria. Shortlisted registries were also required to demonstrate a continuing commitment to deploying the best possible solutions for the benefit of their clients.

Baines Simmons, part of the Training & Consultancy division of global aviation services group Air Partner, secured a 10-year contract to provide aviation support services to IOMAR in April 2016. Baines Simmons also assisted in designing, building and launching IOMAR on behalf of the Isle of Man Government in 2007.

Simon Williams, Director of Civil Aviation, stated: “I am delighted to accept this award from World Commerce Review. 2016 was another big year for the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry and it is excellent to see our hard work being recognised internationally. In the last 12 months we have continued to focus on incremental improvements to our customer service offering. We have successfully introduced key IT support upgrades and launched online services in line with Government’s Digital Strategy, all of which have significantly improved efficiency.

Following a lengthy and detailed tender process, in 2016 we were delighted to have secured a long term arrangement with Baines Simmons for the provision of Aviation Support Services, particularly airworthiness surveys, which further improve the support provided to our international clients. The strategic partnership that the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry has with Baines Simmons is a key enabler for the ongoing, unprecedented success of the Registry.

As the Registry approaches its tenth anniversary we have now registered the 926th aircraft since commencing operations and are maintaining our position as the sixth largest private/corporate aircraft registry in the world. The fact that we are still registering aircraft at a healthy rate notwithstanding the tough international trading conditions is a strong endorsement of the Isle of Man business model.”

Craig Simmonds, IOMAR Programme Manager for Baines Simmons, added: “Many congratulations to Simon and his team at the IOMAR on a very well deserved award, achieving this accolade after 10 years is a tremendous achievement especially given the increased competition.

We are delighted to be able to continue to support the IOMAR and their customers for the next 10 years. Our team are dedicated and fully committed to work in partnership with the Registry to ensure they exceed their goals and their customer’s expectations.”
