  • First true combined vision system seamlessly merges enhanced and synthetic vision images in a single view
  • Extends the company’s Venue™ cabin management system to the Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft with advancements to support 4K content

The new Bombardier Global 5500 and 6500 are the business aviation launch application of the Rockwell Collins combined vision system (CVS), which merges infrared enhanced vision and synthetic vision system imagery into a single conformal view. In addition, Rockwell Collins is providing the new aircraft with the first distributed 4K-enabled cabin in the market.

Rockwell Collins' CVS technology merges infrared and synthetic terrain imagery across both sources' full field-of-view, culminating in the industry's first true combined vision system offering. This CVS imagery is projected on the head-up display creating an augmented reality system that gives pilots unparalleled situational awareness and clears the way for smooth landings even in the most challenging conditions.

The new Global 5500 and 6500 aircraft will include Rockwell Collins' market-leading Venue™ cabin management and entertainment system, with a new, first-to-market feature. Rockwell Collins is enhancing Bombardier's passenger cabin experience with the ability to distribute 4K content throughout the aircraft. Venue has been customized for Bombardier to best meet the needs of its passengers and to offer the same ultra-fast, flexible, reliable and intuitive system across its family of aircraft.

“Throughout our long relationship with Bombardier, we have continually worked to provide them with the innovative offerings that set them apart in the marketplace,” said Craig Olson, vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. “We’re excited to bring a number of industry firsts to their new Global aircraft that will provide their customers with new levels of comfort, productivity and entertainment.”
