The 2016 Singapore air show has attracted several new aerospace firms, while retaining 75% of the companies that participated in 2014.
Companies appearing at the show for the first time include Chinese avionics supplier Aviage Systems, BSB Aviation, CWT Defence Services, Dornier Seawings, and Turkish munitions supplier Roketsan. The Roketsan debut marks the first time a Turkish firm has participated in the show.
“It's not just about numbers,” says Leck Chet Lam, managing director of show organiser Experia Events. “The top 65 global aerospace companies in the world are present here. This gives you a sense of the importance that they have at the air show to meet others, network and tap business opportunities and make them come true.”
Leck made the remarks at a media event preceding the first trade day of the show on Tuesday 16 February.
The show this year retains strong elements of various sectors, including defence, commercial, business aviation, and rotorcraft. The 1,000 participating companies comprise firms from throughout the supply chain, ranging from major OEMs and engine makers to suppliers.
The indigenous Singapore presence continues, with a prominent presence of key players such as ST Aerospace, as well as a number of other local firms.
“The continued support of returning and new exhibitors, together with the range of new programme elements to nurture the next generation will reinforce the Singapore Airshow’s role as the strategic platform of choice for key industry players to tap on emerging markets, showcase their latest products and technologies, and forge partnerships in the thriving Asia-Pacific region,” says Leck.
