Textron Aviation
Textron Aviation and Textron Aviation Defense, a subsidiary of Textron Aviation Inc., will be highlighting their defense and special mission capabilities at the Dubai Air Show this year, including a static display of the innovative Scorpion and special mission-equipped Beechcraft King Air 350i and Cessna Grand Caravan EX.
The Scorpion is a bold, new, adaptable multi-role tactical jet with unparalleled acquisition and operating costs. Designed and built with leading-edge technologies, the Scorpion’s modular and scalable architecture allows for the ease of future upgrade requirements, ensuring the platform can evolve with changing defense needs. The Scorpion excels at intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), armed reconnaissance, close air support (CAS), and light attack missions with its twin-engine jet speeds and ability to precisely and quietly locate and engage enemy targets. A next-generation combat aircraft, the Scorpion has the ability to carry multiple sensors to deliver precision weapons via three payload bays and six hard points, delivering a tactical advantage to even the most demanding situations.
Throughout the week, Textron Aviation Defense will also display the King Air 350i and Cessna Grand Caravan EX, featuring flexible interiors designed for numerous special mission applications. Aboard the aircraft will be a surveillance console, medical stretcher and a variety of seating configurations. Also on display will be a mockup of the hard point provisions for the Cessna Grand Caravan EX platform.
Textron Systems
Textron Systems will exhibit the NIGHTWARDEN Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (TUAS), Aerosonde HQ, G-CLAW precision weapon system and FURY precision guided weapon at the 2017 Dubai Airshow.
Textron Systems’ family of TUAS offers unparalleled experience with more than one million flight hours from operations around the world. At the Dubai Airshow, Textron Systems will display its latest TUAS platform—the NIGHTWARDEN system. This next-generation platform offers greater endurance and payload capacity than the company’s other TUAS. With a dual-payload configuration, extended endurance and a satellite communications capability, the NIGHTWARDEN TUAS offers great flexibility and power to meet various mission requirements.
The Aerosonde HQ, which combines maturity and reliability with mission flexibility and a very small operational footprint, will also be showcased. The Aerosonde HQ incorporates the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a multi-rotor platform with the proven efficiency, range and speed of the Aerosonde Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) fixed-wing aircraft. This capability may be integrated onto existing or new Aerosonde systems, within 30 minutes, yielding an extremely diverse mission set.
Textron Systems will also highlight two products from its Weapon & Sensor Systems business, the G-CLAW and FURYprecision guided weapon systems. The FURY and G-CLAW precision guided weapons utilize global positioning system/inertial navigation system and a Semi-Active Laser Seeker, to provide high levels of accuracy for weapon guidance and target engagement. Both systems utilize advanced warhead designs and a tri-mode fuze for maximizing lethality against a wide range of targets.
