Taylor English Duma LLP served as outside legal counsel to Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group on its agreement to acquire 20 Boeing 747‑8F aircraft worth $8 billion. Based in Moscow, Volga-Dnepr Group is a consortium that owns, operates, and manages several cargo airlines.
The deal – announced July 12, 2016 at the Farnborough Air Show – is a landmark transaction. It represents the largest cargo/freighter aircraft order in Boeing’s 100‑year history, and will make Volga-Dnepr Group the largest Boeing 747‑8F operator in the world.
The Taylor English deal team consisted primarily of Robert D. “Bo” Strauss and Morris O. Little Jr., based in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.
“We were honored to serve as legal advisors on this complex transaction,” said Mr. Strauss. “Volga‑Dnepr is a bold and successful enterprise, and we were glad to help facilitate this expansion of their business.”
Mr. Little added: “Working on a deal that helped to extend the production life of one of the world’s most iconic aircraft was a great professional experience. This order ensures that the 747 program – whose future was reportedly in doubt – will continue into the future.”
