AFI KLM E&M is signaling its ambitions in the field of solutions dedicated to future Advanced/Urban Air Mobility fleet such as electrics VTOLs, drones and air taxis, hybrid-electric fleets and hydrogen-powered. AFI KLM E&M already has extensive technical training capabilities based on its Part 147 organization and its three main training centers in Paris, Amsterdam and Norwich. In the first half of 2025, AFI KLM E&M plans to launch a dedicated offer for the technical training of mechanics on these new types of aircraft. The aim is to be ready to provide this training to customers as soon as the world's leading civil aviation authorities - and EASA in particular - have adopted and published the appropriate regulatory frameworks.

Open to new cooperation opportunities

AFI KLM E&M has been working on this issue for several years with regulators and numerous partners in its ecosystem - from specialist start-ups to aircraft makers, component manufacturers and leading airlines. The logic behind this positioning is simple: as soon as these new fleets are certified by the authorities and able to fly commercially on a large scale, they will need trained and certified technicians and mechanics who master both the new technologies and state-of-the-art MRO processes in order to guarantee efficient, safe, and sustainable operations.

Derk Nieuwenhuijze,VP Digital, Marketing & Communication at AFI KLM E&M, commented:  “As a multi-product MRO provider with extensive capabilities and a long experience in technical training and the entry into service of new fleets, it is our role to prepare for this deadline, to mobilize our ecosystem and upgrade the skills of our experts so that we are ready on D-Day, when we have to meet the needs of the market with practical, adapted and high-performance operational solutions. This means preparing for it today, upgrading the skills of our instructors and designing new training materials. And while we are actively working on this with our current partners, we are always open to new collaborations!”
