The Alitalia Training Academy has resumed operations after a ten year hiatus, starting with 24 candidates in the Alitalia-Etihad Airways Cadet Pilot Program.

The program will use the Alitalia Training Academy in Italy, and Etihad Airways’ training facilities in Abu Dhabi.

The reopening of the academy was made possible by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, which endorsed the newly launched training course.

Luca Corderp di Montezmolo, chairman of Alitalia, said: "Today is an important day for Alitalia and the Italian civil aviation sector as a whole, whose track record for the training of airline pilots is recognised around the globe. Training and investing in young people is a commitment which Etihad Airways shares with Alitalia, right from the very first day of this unique partnership, adding value to the commercial relationship between the two companies."

Etihad and Alitalia’s work does not end with the cadet pilot training program, as they provide similar training initiatives to graduates and engineers.
