BAA Training Vietnam has welcomed first group of Sun PhuQuoc Airways pilot cadets for Airbus A320 Type Rating training, marking the beginning of a new partnership to support the airline’s long-term pilot development strategy as Vietnam’s aviation market continues to expand. Sun PhuQuoc Airways launched commercial operations in November 2025 and has since grown its fleet to 17 aircraft, with further expansion planned to meet increasing passenger demand. To support this growth, the airline has selected its first intake of 13 cadets, who began A320 Type Rating training with BAA Training Vietnam at its simulator center in Ho Chi Minh City on August 10, 2026.

Through its airline-focused training approach, BAA Training Vietnam equips the cadets with the theoretical and technical knowledge, practical skills, and operational mindset required for modern commercial aviation. The two-month training combines competency-based instruction, advanced simulator sessions, and airline-oriented operational preparation to develop pilots who are ready for the demands of today’s flight deck. The A320 Type Rating program meets standards set by both the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) and EASA.

Tran Trong Nhan, Managing Director at BAA Training Vietnam commented: “As Vietnam’s aviation industry continues to grow, airlines need reliable, long-term solutions to develop highly skilled flight crews. Our focus is on delivering training that meets the highest international standards while preparing pilots for the operational demands of modern commercial aviation. We are proud to support Sun PhuQuoc Airways in building its future pilot workforce through our A320 Type Rating training program, while contributing to the development of Vietnam’s next generation of aviation professionals.”

Captain Nguyen Duc Manh, Crew Training Postholder at Sun PhuQuoc Airways stated: "As Sun PhuQuoc Airways continues to expand its fleet and international network, developing our own pipeline of highly qualified pilots is a strategic priority. Partnering with BAA Training Vietnam allows us to provide our cadets with world-class training and operational readiness, reinforcing our long-term commitment to safety, service excellence, and sustainable growth as we continue our ‘Rise to the World’ journey.”

As airlines continue to expand across Southeast Asia, the need for sustainable pilot development has become increasingly important. By working closely with airline partners to deliver tailored training programs, BAA Training Vietnam is helping build the next generation of aviation professionals while supporting the long-term growth of Vietnam’s commercial aviation sector.
