Future of aviation maintenance: airBaltic launches Technical Academy

airBaltic launches airBaltic Technical Academy – a premier training initiative, designed for individuals aiming to start or advance their career in aircraft maintenance. The academy is now accepting applications for its three specialized programs in collaboration with Riga Technical University, Liepaja State Technical School, and the exclusive airBaltic Mechanics program. airBaltic Technical Academy will offer state-of-the-art training facilities in Riga and Liepaja, featuring practical experience primarily with the Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The programs are designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of applicants – from secondary or technical school graduates to experienced mechanics – ensuring there is a suitable path for everyone’s career ambitions.

airBaltic is committed to expanding its fleet of Airbus A200-300 and has set an ambitious goal to recruit and train nearly 400 new aviation maintenance professionals by 2030, aiming to enroll approximately 70 individuals annually. The establishment of the airBaltic Technical Academy is a strategic response to these objectives, providing employment and training in three different streams. Through these programs, the airline offers free education with the opportunity to combine work and studies, as well as guaranteed employment in a highly qualified profession.

Program details:

• RTU airBaltic Program: This paid full-time onsite program is offered in partnership with Riga Technical University, renowned for its academic excellence globally. Participants will earn a professional bachelor's degree in Aviation Transport and qualify as aviation maintenance technicians, earning EASA Part-66 certificate. Financial benefits include a full salary and comprehensive industry perks starting after the first year, with all study and training expenses covered by airBaltic.

• LVT airBaltic Program: Conducted in partnership with Liepaja State Technical School, this program allows students to achieve a secondary vocational education degree and an EASA Part-66 certificate. Recognized as a leading vocational institution in the Kurzeme region, the LVT airBaltic Program offers salary benefits and industry perks after the first year. Tuition is funded by the state budget and airBaltic.

• Mechanics Program: From day one, participants receive paid training and employment, working towards an EASA Part-66 certification as certified B1 and B2 technicians. The application deadline for all study groups is July 1, 2024. However, the evaluation process will begin upon receipt of each application. Please be aware that the availability of open positions in each study group is limited.

The newly launched Technical Academy will complement the existing suite of study programs of airBaltic Training, which include the Pilot Academy, maintenance training, flight crew training, cabin crew training, ground personnel training, instructor training, and more.
