Lufthansa Technik Engine Services (LTES) is significantly expanding its engine maintenance capabilities in Tulsa, Oklahoma, nearly doubling its operational capacity as part of its growth strategy across the Americas. The project will increase the facility's work bays from 28 to 46, supporting V2500, CFM56-5B/7B, Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8/8C and Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. A dedicated module shop is also planned, further broadening the site's service offerings.
The expansion will strengthen LTES's footprint in North America by increasing capacity, improving operational flexibility and enhancing technical capabilities. The addition of the new module shop is expected to optimize internal workflows, shorten turnaround times and help meet rising customer demand across the region. Overall, the project is projected to create more than 100 new jobs by 2030.

Tulsa strengthens its role in Lufthansa Technik's global engine network
Originally operating as BizJet International, the Tulsa facility built its reputation through overhaul and field maintenance services for Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8/8C engines used in business aviation. While continuing to support the Tay fleet, the site has evolved into a cornerstone of Lufthansa Technik's Mobile Engine Services (MES) network, providing rapid support solutions for V2500, CFM56-5B/7B and GTF engines.
The facility is also home to one of the industry's most advanced fully digital engine test cells. Through its Mobile Engine Services network, Lufthansa Technik delivers specialized "surgical strike" repairs and quick-turn maintenance events that help operators reduce costs, minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
According to Harald Gloy, Chief Operations Officer of Lufthansa Technik, the MES network has become a key differentiator for the company, enabling fast and efficient on-wing and in-shop engine support. He noted that the Tulsa expansion reinforces a critical element of Lufthansa Technik's global engine services network while enhancing support capabilities for operators throughout the Americas. Combined with the company's new engine facility in Calgary and its established presence in Montreal, Tulsa will play an increasingly important role in the continued expansion of Lufthansa Technik's regional engine services operations.

Investing in workforce development
As part of its long-term growth plans, LTES has also introduced a dual-training program designed to develop the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals. Launched in early 2025, the initiative combines practical hands-on experience with structured classroom education. Participants complete an approximately 18-month curriculum before testing for their FAA powerplant certification.
To date, 24 employees have enrolled in the program, with ten already earning their certificates. The initiative helps address the industry's ongoing shortage of qualified powerplant technicians while supporting Lufthansa Technik's commitment to high operational standards and workforce excellence.
Michael Scheferhoff, President and CEO of Lufthansa Technik Engine Services, said the expansion brings a key element of the company's German heritage to the United States through the implementation of the dual-education model. By combining practical experience with formal training, the company aims to build a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting sustainable growth and maintaining service quality throughout the Americas.
Beyond engine services, Tulsa continues to serve as a strategic location for the broader Lufthansa Technik Group. The recent growth of Lufthansa Technik Component Services (LTCS) has further expanded the site's capabilities in component maintenance and repair, reinforcing Tulsa's position as a major aviation maintenance hub within the company's global network.
