To develop advanced aviation IT solutions, Ramco SystemsBSE along with a unit of Air France KLM have opened a lab innovation centre in Singapore.
The Singapore Aviation MRO IT Lab Innovation Centre would focus on developing solutions such as wearables for ground engineers and drones to inspect aircraft on the tarmac.
The lab, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, has been set up by Ramco with Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance.
In a release today, Ramco, an enterprise software player, said the centre would develop advanced aviation engineering IT solutions.
"The lab will work on next-generation applications and develop intellectual property to solve major problems facing the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry," the release noted.
Located at Ramco's regional headquarters in Singapore, the lab would scale up to employ over 50 global innovators.
Among others, the lab would work on embedded sensors for aviation components, analytics for engineering planning and optimisation to reduce aircraft on ground, robotics for the shop floor and drones to inspect aircraft on the tarmac and wearable devices.
"Through this Lab, Ramco will work with leading aerospace companies and airlines in Singapore to co-develop and catalyse lead adoption of transformative digital solutions," Singapore Economic Development Board's Assistant Managing Director Lim Kok Kiang said.
