Marco Michel – former apprentice and now a polymechanics EFZ at RUAG Aviation – won silver in his vocational category at the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi. RUAG is proud of the successful young talent. The SwissSkills team won 11 gold medals, six silver and three bronze medals at the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi, finishing as the by far highest-placed European nation and coming second place in the overall national rankings.
The WorldSkills Competition took place in Abu Dhabi from 14 to 19 October 2017, where Marco Michel represented SwissSkills in the discipline of polymechanics/automation. His preparation and training for this one-off event were extensive and the silver medal is now the reward for his focused preparation.
Thanks to Marco Michel, RUAG was the only company in Switzerland to participate in the WorldSkills for the fifth consecutive time.
RUAG is proud of Marco Michel’s achievement. Fitting celebrations will be held for Marco Michel and the other medal winners from the Swissmem and Swissmechanik professional associations at the vocational training conference held in Emmen on 26 October 2017.
About 8 percent of the Swiss workforce at RUAG are apprentices. For RUAG, training is an investment in the future, because technically competent and motivated employees are the basis for success.
On Saturday, October 28th, 2017, the RUAG Talentsday will open doors to eight RUAG locations for those interested in vocational training: in Alpnach, Berne, Emmen, Interlaken, Stans, Thun, Zurich and Zweisimmen. In Lodrino the Talentsday will take place on 21 October 2017 and in Bure on 3 November 2017.
