Deutsche Aircraft kicked off the 2nd AIRCRAFT Supplier Summit in Leipzig. The primary goal of the summit is to discuss implementation options with suppliers, with an emphasis on the crucial role of procurement. AIRCRAFT Supplier Summit brings together key suppliers who will shape the future of aircraft supply chains. We have invited next-generation aircraft manufacturers doing business in Leipzig and around the world to discuss the industry’s technological transformation, with the aim of adopting a sustainable approach to developing new concepts for all stakeholders for the next generation of aircraft.
An effective supply chain is critical for the production of the D328eco, the world’s most advanced turboprop, and for the region of Saxony. All manufacturing will take place at the Final Assembly Line at Leipzig/Halle Airport, which will have a production capacity of 48 aircraft per year as the airport develops into an important aviation hub with a strong air logistics infrastructure.
90% of suppliers for the D328eco are on Board
Deutsche Aircraft, which expects to put the D328eco into service by 2026, has completed nearly 90% of its supply chain agreements and is moving on to preparations for aircraft manufacturing.
Maximilian Fahr, Vice President Supply Chain at Deutsche Aircraft, commented: “Our theme for this year’s AIRCRAFT Supplier Summit is Digital, Green and Sustainable. We are striving to drive technological transformation for long-term sustainability, notably in aviation supply chain and procurement, and this initiative will support the entire aviation environment around Leipzig/Halle Airport. This summit will establish the framework for sustainable and innovative supply chain concepts. Delegates will discuss how these concepts can be implemented in collaboration with suppliers and how this can benefit the broader aviation ecosystem. The participation of 200 suppliers will ensure exciting, in-depth discussions.”
Nico Neumann, Chief Operations Officer at Deutsche Aircraft, said: “Since its inception, Deutsche Aircraft has dedicated itself to being the industry's flagship for innovation and leading the transition to a more sustainable future. Our dedication to fresh ideas, cooperation and connecting with like-minded partners will contribute to the realisation of our mission. We are especially excited to be in Leipzig today where our climate neutral Final Assembly Line will be located.”
The supplier selection for the D328eco is part of the sustainability goals at Deutsche Aircraft, and as an OEM, the parts used to make the aircraft must align with our objective towards a more climate neutral air travel. On the second day of the event, Deutsche Aircraft will present the Supplier Summit Awards, based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, to recognise the exceptional performance and capabilities of our industry partners.
