Boeing Announces Presence for EAA AirVenture Air Show at Oshkosh - Manufacturer publisher

Boeing , a Platinum Sponsor of the 2016 EAA AirVenture Air Show at Oshkosh, announced today the activities it has planned for the annual air show, July 25-31, 2016.

“Everyone at Boeing is looking forward to celebrating the company’s centennial with aviation enthusiasts at this year’s AirVenture,” said Rick Anderson, vice president of sales and marketing, Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. “This week is a great opportunity to demonstrate why Boeing has been the leader in aerospace for the last 100 years, and why it will be for the next 100 years.”

Boeing will kick off the week on Monday, July 25 with the Pilot & Technician Outlook media briefing at 9 a.m. The annual report is a respected industry forecast of aviation personnel required to meet the industry’s demand over the next 20 years.

Boeing Centennial Plaza, the heart of the air show, will showcase several Boeing customer airplanes during the week:

  • Wednesday, July 27, Alaska Airlines will celebrate “WomenVenture Day” by flying in a 737-900ER in Boeing Centennial livery. The flight crew and more than 100 passengers on the flight are female Alaska Airlines and Boeing employees. The airplane is scheduled to arrive at 10:00 a.m. and depart around 6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 27, FedEx will fly in a 767 Freighter, which will be on static display on Boeing Centennial Plaza. The airplane is scheduled to arrive at on Tuesday evening at 6:15 p.m. and depart on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 28 through Sunday, July 31, The Wisconsin Air National Guard will celebrate 60 years of the KC-135 by flying in and putting its airplane on display through Sunday.
  • Saturday, July 30, Cathay Pacific will celebrate “Boeing Day” by flying in a 747-8 Freighter. The airplane is scheduled to arrive at 8:30 a.m. and depart at 6:45 p.m.

“We are planning a great week full of activities for enthusiasts of all ages,” said Sherry Carbary, vice president of Boeing Flight Services. “The interactive Boeing Experience Exhibit will feature a 787 Flight Demonstrator, software demonstrations and videos highlighting Boeing’s work in the areas of commercial aviation, military aviation and space exploration.”

  Here are just a few of the other activities planned for Oshkosh:

  • Navigation Chart Scavenger Hunt at KidVenture throughout the week.
  • Wednesday, July 27: “You could be an Astronaut” - a discussion for kids of all ages about what it takes to go to space.
  • Thursday, July 28: Trailblazers: Women of the Boeing Company forum and book signing.
  • Friday, July 29: Learn what it’s like to live in space. Meet current astronaut Michael Hopkins in front of the Space Launch System wall at the Boeing tent from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 30: Boeing will host a special two-part program at EAA’s Theater in the Woods. The program will include a presentation by the Boeing historian, as well as a panel featuring current and former Boeing flight test pilots.

Boeing subsidiary Jeppesen will again be presenting a series of chart clinics, weather clinics and other forums filled with useful information for pilots. 

Jeppesen, in partnership with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, will also be launching the “Captain Jepp Challenge,” a program designed to recognize and reward pilots who complete in-person and/or online educational activities throughout the year.
