With the recent developments of the COVID-19 situation, we understand the need for added diligence in cleaning the surfaces in your aircraft. We have worked with our engineering team, as well as our external suppliers to recommend the most effective products for the cleaning of your aircraft, while also protecting the durability and longevity of your interior.

At this time we encourage you to reference Section 8 of your SR20/22/22T or Vision Jet Pilot Operating Handbook as the best resource for cleaning your aircraft. This section outlines both recommended cleaning products as well as methods and techniques for cleaning each surface for optimal results. Highlights from applicable sections are included below for easy reference but please ensure you reference the full document for all details before cleaning.

Additionally, please be aware that the use of standard cleaning products – particularly those traditionally used as commercial and/or household disinfectants – can be damaging to the interior of your aircraft. We do not recommend the use of jellied alcohol (hand sanitizer), any alcohol or ammonia-based cleaners or other commercially available disinfectants for the cleaning of any of the surfaces found in your aircraft.

As always, the best way to ensure the safety of you and your passengers is to practice sound hygiene protocol as advised by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), including to exercise of social distancing whenever possible and to encourage any passenger who feels ill to stay at home and rest. The below cleaning recommendations should be activated in addition to the recommendations outlined and regularly updated by the CDC and WHO.

Recommended Cleaning Supplies

Below is a list of recommended cleaning products to care for your SR Series or Vision Jet. This list, along with additional instructions, can be found in Section 8 of the Pilot Operating Handbook (POH).

  • Interior Windscreen and Windows – Prist
  • Display Screens – Optimax
  • Cabin Interior – Mild, Abrasive-Free Dishwasher Soap
  • Vinyl Panels – Vinyl Finish Cleaner (Cirrus Part 50688-001)
  • Leather Upholstery – Leather Care Kit (Cirrus Part 50689-001)

Windshield and Windows

Clean acrylic windows with a solvent free, none abrasive, antistatic acrylic cleaner. Do not use gasoline, alcohol, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, thinner, acetone or glass window cleaning sprays. Use a moist cloth or chamois, in an up and down motion, and apply cleaner to one area at a time, wiping away with a soft, cotton cloth.

Instrument Panel and Electronic Display Screens

With the display screen powered OFF, use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with Optimax solution and wipe the screen and/or instrument panel in one direction, moving from the top of the display to the bottom. Gently wipe with a clean cotton cloth to dry. Do not use cleaners containing ammonia as this can harm the anti-reflective coating.

Headliner and Trim Panels

The headliner and trim panels should be vacuumed and then cleaned with a diluted mixture of mild soap and water. Avoid harsh abrasives or alkaline soaps or detergents and carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions and avoid soaking or harsh rubbing.

Leather Upholstery and Seats

Use a diluted mix of mild soap and water to wipe down the leather upholstery of your aircraft and dry with a soft, cotton cloth. For deeper cleaning, use the Leather Care Kit available from Cirrus Aircraft. As a reminder, do not use harsh soaps or detergents, solvent cleaners or alcohol as it can damage the leather permanently.

Carpet and Flooring

Regular vacuuming of the carpet is recommended. If further cleaning is required, the use of carpet cleaner can be used for spot cleaning. For sanitizing, the best solution is steam cleaning. Additionally, small amounts of Lysol sprays may be used on the carpet but care should be taken not to soak of permeate the carpet.
