Daher inaugurated its new technology center – called Fly’in – which is dedicated to sustainable aviation. Located at the Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport in southwestern France, this 2,100-square-meter center of excellence reflects Daher's commitment to more environmentally friendly aviation, and it marks a key step in the aerospace sector’s sustainable transformation.
Didier Kayat, the Chairman & CEO of Daher commented: "Fly'in perfectly illustrates Daher's efforts to innovate and collaborate for more sustainable aviation, which is aligned with our corporate purpose. This technology center embodies the vision of a future where technology and environmental responsibility go hand in hand."
The third of Daher’s three tech centers to accelerate innovation
With Fly'in at Tarbes, Daher completes the establishment of its three technology centers in France, each dedicated to a strategic expertise, joining the Log'in facility at Toulouse for industrial logistics, and Shap'in at Nantes for advanced aerostructures. These innovation platforms exemplify Daher's ambition to transform its activities in addressing tomorrow's technological and environmental challenges.
The initiatives, supported by the French government and the European Union under the France 2030 program – as well as by the Occitanie and Pays de la Loire regions – are at the heart of the Daher Group’s “Take Off 2027” strategic plan.
Equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure, Fly'in is positioned as a platform of excellence for research, development, rapid prototyping, ground and flight testing, as well as data science. Among its flagship projects is the EcoPulse aircraft demonstrator, which enables Daher – along with its Safran and Airbus partners – to explore the potential of high-voltage electric hybridization technologies in reducing the carbon footprint of aircraft.
A catalyst for regional and national innovation
One of the Fly'in technology center’s goals is to strengthen the economic and industrial attractiveness of the region by building strong partnerships with academic, industrial and institutional players. In addition to accelerating technological innovation, this center will contribute to the development of skills and future professions. Fly'in is part of the Campus Aero Adour project, which aims to develop and deploy attractive training programs with qualifications – targeting the training of 15,000 people and raising awareness among 36,000 on the challenges facing the aerospace sector through 2030.
As a unique site in France, Fly'in will promote the advancement of Daher's aerospace activities while fostering the emergence of eco-friendly technologies. With its capabilities in rapid prototyping, advanced engineering, artificial intelligence, structural testing and embedded systems testing, Fly'in strengthens Daher's position as a key player in sustainable aviation at an international scale.
A facility designed for collaborative innovation
Fly'in is distinguished by its collaborative approach and operational philosophy. As a shared space for Daher’s teams, partners, and stakeholders in working together on targeted issues, it offers a secure and confidential environment that is conducive to exploration and development for the entire industry. Equipped with additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping workshops, mechanical and system test benches and flight test capabilities, the site is optimized to address the complex challenges of modern aerospace.
The Fly'in building itself complies with the latest environmental standards, with a 30% green (vegetated) roof and a "low carbon" concrete slab – reinforcing Daher's commitment to sustainability.
