After two years of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Daher has resumed its “Young Eagles” internship program.

Launched 15 years ago, the initiative offers two selected American students the opportunity to live an aviation adventure – including hands-on work experience at the Tarbes, France headquarters of Daher’s Aircraft Division, and the ability to interface with aircraft owners and operators during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh air show and fly-in.

This year, the internship selectees were Lauren Meyer, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a student in engineering and computer science from the University of Tennessee; and Anthony Garza, from San Antonio, Texas, who has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University.

During five weeks at Daher’s Aircraft Division in Tarbes, Lauren was integrated with the TBM Care team where she helped develop new services for customers; while Anthony was tasked with digitalizing the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 turboprop engine for the Design Office.

The all-inclusive “Young Eagles” internship includes lodging and the work experience, as well as a tour of Airbus’ aircraft final assembly site in Toulouse, and a flight on the TBM.

After returning from France, they are joining the Daher teams at this week’s EAA AirVenture Oshkosh event in Wisconsin.

“This opportunity is a one-of-a-kind experience for the recipients,” said Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of Daher’s Aircraft Division. “They spend time with our team in France, gaining expertise in their fields of interest. We hope the opportunity will make a difference in their careers, while also benefitting our company by working with a younger generation and learning from their viewpoints.”

Applications for the 2023 internship will be available on the Daher website this winter (https://www.daher.com/en/candidate/), and the applicant selection will be announced at the Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo in April 2023.
