Helicopters to be assembled by Italian Leonardo-Finmeccanica for Russian oil major Rosneft are particularly intended for exploration of Arctic gas and oil fields, Chief Executive Officer of the Italian industrial group Mauro Moretti said at the Eurasian Forum on Friday.
"I refer to high technology helicopters capable of making long-range flights at low temperatures (minus 50 degrees Centigrade). This is a very important product we are able to offer now at the international level," Moretti said.
The project will be implemented at HeliVert plant in Moscow Region, he added. Up to 70% of the Russian-Italian joint venture for production of helicopters will be localized there.
Plans to build a plant for production of AW189 helicopters within the framework of the joint venture of Leonardo-Finmeccanica, Rosneft and Rostec were announced a year ago. "The venue and other details are discussed with Rostec and Russian Helicopters," Moretti said.
It was reported earlier HeliVert plans to produce and deliver about 150 helicopters for Rosneft by 2025.
