Leonardo-Finmeccanica has entered into an industrial and trade partnership agreement with the Algerian Ministry of National Defence to set up a helicopter production line in Algeria.
The production facility, to be built in Aïn Arnat, will produce three different Leonardo-Finmeccanica light and medium helicopters.
Production will initially focus on transport, medical evacuation, surveillance and control roles.
As part of the agreement a joint company will be established that will also provide repair and overhaul, as well as training. A key feature of the agreement will will support the development of high technology capabilities in aeronautical material production.
