Messier-Bugatti-Dowty (Safran) signed a contract with Singapore Airlines during the Singapore Airshow to support the landing gear systems on its upcoming fleet of Airbus A350-900 jetliners. The airline’s first A350-900 will start revenue service soon. Since 2008, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty has also provided support services for Singapore Airlines’ A380 super-jumbo jets.

This contract gives Singapore Airlines fast and continuous access to all spare parts needed for the braking, steering, monitoring and gear extension/retraction systems on its aircraft. These parts are manufactured not only by Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, but also by two other Safran companies, Sagem (electronic equipment) and Technofan (cabin, avionics and brake cooling fans). Messier-Bugatti-Dowty’s support services include the analysis of operating data for these components and the application of preventive maintenance plans to guarantee the on-time performance of Singapore Airlines’ airplanes.

With this type of contract, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty’s customers are not responsible for unplanned maintenance costs. Operators can maximize fleet dispatch reliability, reliably predict maintenance costs, and reduce overall operating costs.

Commenting on this latest contract, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty Chief Executive Officer Vincent Mascré said: “We are delighted that Singapore Airlines has entrusted us with these services, and we will do everything in our power to keep our customer’s aircraft flying. Our comprehensive service package, which includes not only repairs, but also quick access to state-of-the-art spare parts, clearly reflects our total commitment to customer service.”

As an OEM providing technical support for some 25,000 aircraft worldwide, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty offers custom-tailored service packages that are designed to help airlines monitor and maintain their critical equipment, safely and cost-effectively. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty calls on a complete range of maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) solutions to support fleets of all types of aircraft, whether new or already in service.
