On December 19, 2018, the ceremonial opening of a new assembly shop for L-410 regional aviation aircraft and Diamond DA 42T training aircraft of the Ural Works of Civil Aviation took place within the territory of the second phase of the Special Economic Zone “Titanium Valley” (Uktus Airport).
Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Russian Federation Oleg Bocharov, First Vice-Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Alexei Orlov, Director General of UWCA, JSC Vadim Badekha, and Director General of SEZ “Titanium Valley” Artemiy Kyzlasov opened the ceremony.
“When coming here every day to work, you are laying the foundations of the wonderful history of aviation manufacturing in the Urals. An aircraft manufacturing cluster will emerge here thanks to you,” Oleg Bocharov addressed the employees. “Unfortunately, settlements and villages where people are unable to get immediate help still remain in Russia. These people hope that this problem will be solved with the recovery of regional aviation. I am glad that we are definitely living up to these expectations.”
According to Vice-Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Alexei Orlov, the launch of the new facility gave impulse to the operations of SEZ “Titanium Valley”. “This is a new milestone in the Sverdlovsk Region industrial development – the development of new competences in the field of aircraft manufacturing,” the Vice-Governor pointed out.
At the end of the ceremony, the participants cut a traditional red ribbon to celebrate the opening of the facility.
The UWCA new assembly shop will continue to manufacture L-410 aircraft of various modifications, Diamond DA 42T aircraft, and Bell-407 helicopters. In 2019, the enterprise will reach the design capacity of 20 L-410 aircraft and 25 Diamond aircraft per year.
