Transport Canada has announced the aircraft certification for Bombardier’s C Series, marking a significant milestone for the company and for Pratt & Whitney.
“As the sole source engine provider for their C Series aircraft, Pratt & Whitney sends its congratulations to Bombardier on this historic milestone,” said Greg Gernhardt, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. “We share in their excitement as the PurePower® Geared Turbofan™ engine continues to power their advanced aircraft onto new and successful chapters. Paired with our technology, the C Series is an all new single aisle aircraft that will provide operators with savings in fuel burn, noise and emissions increasing the aircraft’s environmental compatibility for years to come.”
Bombardier launched the C Series program at the 2008 Farnborough Air Show. Seven years since the aircraft and engine program announcement, both companies continue to work closely together to deliver next generation aviation technology for customers around the world.
