Pratt & Whitney Shanghai Engine Center recently delivered its 600th overhauled CFM56® engine to China Eastern Airlines, marking a significant milestone for the engine center. Shanghai Engine Center is a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and China Eastern Airlines. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

“The delivery of 600 overhauled engines represents a significant milestone for our engine center in Shanghai,” said Kevin Kirkpatrick, executive director, Pratt & Whitney Aftermarket, Asia. “We are pleased that the Shanghai Engine Center has achieved a proven record of service excellence while rapidly expanding its customer base. This feat was made possible as a result of our customers’ continued confidence in us. We will continue to leverage our quick turnaround time and quality focus to help our customers maintain operational efficiencies throughout the entire lifespan of their engines.”

“The Shanghai Engine Center has achieved solid progress since its establishment in 2009,” said Feng Liang, China Eastern Airlines deputy general manager and the Shanghai Engine Center’s board chairman. “By combining OEM experience with airline operational knowledge, this strategic partnership between Pratt & Whitney and China Eastern Airlines provides
customers with highly dependable services at competitive costs and enhanced efficiency. Customer feedback consistently recognizes the Shanghai Engine Center for its dependable and quality service, on-time delivery performance, effective cost management and professional technical support.”

The facility combines Pratt & Whitney’s more than 90 years of experience producing dependable engines with China Eastern Airlines’ operational perspective.

“I am very proud of our team’s dedication to safety, quality and customer satisfaction. We’ve been making relentless efforts to strengthen relationships with our customers. Our proven performance demonstrates our readiness to introduce a new overhaul line for V2500 engines in 2017. We’re excited to move toward a great future for the Shanghai Engine Center,” said Roger Retana, general manager, Shanghai Engine Center.

Operating out of a highly efficient 23,000-square-meter building with an 80,000-pound thrust test cell and in-house part repair capability, the Shanghai Engine Center was built for efficiency and designed with well-organized flow lines using Pratt & Whitney’s innovative ACE lean operating system.
