Russia and Pakistan signed a contract for delivery of four Mi-35M transport and attack helicopters to Islamabad; the signing ceremony was held in Rawalpindi, Interfax reports with reference to a source close to the Russian military-industrial sector.

“Representatives of Pakistani Ministry of Defense and Rosoboronexport signed the document last week. These helicopters should be taking part in anti-terrorist operations,” the source said. According to him, details of the deal were discussed in June 2015 during visit of Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army Raheel Sharif to Russia.

IInitially Russia and Pakistan negotiated deliveries of 20 Mi-35M helicopters developed by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and manufactured by Rostvertol (both companies are parts of Russian Helicopters Holding Company).

Mi-35M helicopter may be operated under any lighting conditions. It offers more firepower and better aircraft performance compared to the basic version. The helicopter is fitted by high-precision guided Shturm and Ataka missiles.
