Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) has already delivered 13 Mi-171Sh military-transport helicopters to Peru under a contract signed in 2013; 11 more vehicles of the type will be delivered to the country this year, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the company’s press-service.
The contract for delivery of 23 Mi-171Sh helicopters was signed in December 2013. The deal is valued at $400 million. The first batch of these vehicles manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant was delivered to the customer in December 2014.

Besides helicopters, the customer takes delivery of equipment for an MRO center, simulators for pilot training and other equipment.
Today over 400 Russian-produced helicopters are operated in Latin America and the Caribbean. The most popular vehicles in the region are Mi-8/17 Family helicopters (around 320 ones are operated in the regions).
Mi-171Sh is designed for transportation of military personnel and cargo (inside the cabin or using an external sling). It may participate in search-and-rescue operation and it is also able to carry weapons.
