Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC) may deliver Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft to Iran if sanctions against the country are lifted, RIA Novosti reports with reference to SCAC President Ilya Tarasenko.

“We are working closely with our Iranian partners and they are interested in purchasing our aircraft. They have very old aircraft and extensive network of regional airports. Moreover, Iran has a good geographical position in the region, which allows operating flights to United Arab Emirates,” Tarasenko said.

“They need about 100 aircraft, that is why we are studying all the routes they are going to use. So when the sanctions against Iran are lifted, we are going to start preparing for deliveries of the aircraft to this country,” he added. He stated that Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft would not be delivered to Iran until the sanctions are lifted.

Moreover, SCAC may establish an MRO center in the country. “We also offer, as in case with our Indian partners, to start production of some of the jet’s components in Iran in order to involve the Iranian enterprises in Sukhoi SuperJet 100 project. We haven’t discussed the details yet. We see it as a potential area of activities,” Tarasenko added.
