Carlos Gomez has been appointed managing director of TAG Aviation España, effective from 1 January 2016. Gomez succeeds Rafael Villaneuva who has decided to pursue other opportunities outside the company.

After leading TAG Aviation España earlier in his career with the company, Gomez held the position of CEO, TAG Aviation Asia, for the past four years.

In returning to Madrid, Gomez will also take on additional responsibilities as a member of the TAG Aviation Europe corporate leadership team with a special focus to generate business growth in the region.

“I am delighted to be returning to Spain to take up this important position as TAG España’s managing director, especially at a time when Europe and Spain are seeing the first signs of economic recovery.”

Christof Späth, CEO, TAG Aviation Europe added: “During Carlos’s period leading the Hong Kong team, TAG Asia grew to become the largest aircraft management company in the region, reaching 50 aircraft in their fleet last year. He demonstrated the same leadership that we saw in Spain and importantly has solidified the TAG Aviation brand worldwide. We are indeed fortunate to welcome the return of Carlos to Spain especially at such an important time in our company’s evolution.”

TAG Aviation Europe has bases in Switzerland, the UK and Spain, the company manages Europe’s largest fleet with over 80 aircraft, of which nearly 50 are available for charter.
